Albums
The discography of the American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, and several compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The group has won a number of Grammy Awards for their work.
Before Toto was formed, members of the band played session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs' 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to the formation of Toto in the year 1976.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics due to the absence of hit singles. In 1985 the lead singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group The group held auditions for the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the album Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The band went through old recordings and tapes to create the special record. The album was well-loved by fans and Toto began the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem von Schröck took over Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the band.
